How can I make my account more secure?

At Capital.com, your security matters. We’ve created multiple safeguards to help keep your account protected – but there are also a few simple things you can do to stay even more secure.

Here’s what we suggest:

Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. You’ll need your email and password, plus a secondary verification method to log in. This makes it much harder for anyone else to access your account.

If you haven’t already set it up, we strongly recommend doing so. You can activate 2FA in your account settings: How to enable 2FA

Set up Face ID (on mobile)

Our optional facial recognition feature unlocks your account securely and quickly.

To set it up in the app:
Go to Account (top left corner) > Settings > Face ID and PIN

Choose a strong password

To make your password as secure as possible, make sure it includes:

  • at least eight characters
  • at least one special character (eg ! @ # $ %)
  • at least one uppercase letter (A–Z)
at least one lowercase letter (a–z)
  • at least one number (0–9)

Turn on email notifications

If your account is accessed from a new device, we’ll send you an email alert. The alert will give device details and a link to secure your account if needed.

We recommend enabling email notifications on all your devices so you can act quickly if anything seems off.
